Nintendo’s latest Zelda adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword hit stores on Sunday, and guess what? Turns out the game’s pretty darn great! Who could have predicted?
I’ve put several hours into Skyward Sword and so far the game is packed with personality and interesting characters, and for the first time in a while, a storyline that actually feels worth paying attention to. The much-debated motion controls work without a hitch — anyone who tells you different probably has arms that don’t work and should be pitied. Oh, and the music’s great.
But I’m no slavering Zelda fanboy! The game has faults too! Uhhh, like, hmmm…the camera sometimes isn’t great? That’s about it so far.
So yeah, go ahead and get this game. To get you into a Zelda-ey mood, here’s a collection of some of the best Legend of Zelda fan-art on the web.

Right through the nut sack.
I don’t smash pots out of anger. I do it out of greed. There might be a blue rupee in there!

It’ll never happen, but I’d be down for a western-themed Zelda.

Everything Dan Hipp draws is great. Check out his site. Chances are he’s done an awesome drawing of something you like.

Saria and Skullkid — one in the same? The games never really implied it, but it would have made for an interesting twist in Majora’s Mask.

Well, nothing’s gonna follow that one. My floppy green hat goes off to you AG+, whoever you are.
