The Latest ‘Independence Day’ Sequel Rumor Involves Liam Hemsworth

According to The Wrap, the star of the next Independence Day movie could be Lesser Hemsworth. Er, Liam. Liam Hemsworth.

Until just now I didn’t realize there was actually going to be a sequel to the original 1996 film. It’s apparently called ID Forever, which sounds more like a Benjamin Button scenario where no one believes you’re really the age you say you are. However, I was reminded that Jeff Goldblum has just recently said it’s a thing and that he’s in the thing. So take all of that with a grain of salt, along with the rumor that Michael B. Jordan (the new Johnny Storm) might also be in the thing.

Nothing is official with the thing, is what you should know.

20th Century Fox isn’t saying what’s going on with casting. Will Smith’s probably definitely not in it. Roland Emmerich is supposedly directing, with a script from Glimmer writer Carter Blanchard.

It’s probably way too much to hope that somehow intelligent life on Earth was destroyed anyway, and the immediate future looks like Idiocracy. It would be tremendous if ID Forever is really from the point of view of the next group of invading aliens, who decide to try and help humanity find their way out of Costco. Jeff Goldblum is awakened from a cryogenic sleep to be a human emissary and wacky shenanigans ensue.

Boom, there’s an idea for either the Independence Day sequel or a live-action version of Futurama, take your pick. Hollywood should be asking me for my Kik.
