SyFy’s upcoming original movie Sharktopus has picked up a director and a star.  It’ll be directed by Declan O’Brien, who wrote and directed Rock Monster, my favorite B-52’s song.  But who could star in such a challenging artistic endeavour?  Eric Roberts.  Of course.

Sharktopus (scheduled to premiere later in 2010) is about a research scientist (Roberts) and his daughter, who develop a secret military weapon—a hybrid shark/octopus that can be controlled by electrical implants. But when the controls break down, the monster goes on a killing rampage at the resort beaches of Mexico. [SciFiWire]

As for the banner pic, what can I say?  It seemed like a good idea at 5 am.  Which is probably also how this movie came to be.
