Here’s Your First Real Look At ‘Pokémon Sun & Moon,’ Including The Game’s New Starters

Back in February, Nintendo officially announced Pokémon Sun and Moon, the latest entries in the still-massively popular monster battling series. Unfortunately, other than a name, a few scraps of concept art and a vague release window, very few specifics were revealed about the games.

Well, that changes now, as Nintendo has released a full trailer for Pokémon Sun and Moon. The games look very similar to the last major entries in the series, Pokémon X and Y, although this time around your playable character seems to be a bit older and more mature. Pokémon Sun and Moon also appears to take place in a more laid-back tropical locale, rather than the urban environments of X and Y.

The new trailer also introduces us to our latest trio of starter Pokémon. This time around you can choose from Rowlet, a stumpy little grass/flying-type owl, Litten, a fiery cat creature and Popplio, a water-type seal. Not the most memorable starting lineup, but Rowlet is pretty darn adorable, and I could see Litten growing on me. Popplio is a straight-up dork though.

What do you think? Liking the new tropical setting? Which starter will you be going with? Pokémon Sun and Moon are scheduled to arrive Nov. 18, 2016.
