New ‘Preacher’ Cast Photos Introduce Us To The Residents Of Annville

We’re only a few weeks away from the long-awaited debut of Preacher, but while we’ve gotten some badass introductions and some character photos, we haven’t really gotten a visual introduction. Thankfully, AMC has addressed that with a few cast photos.

First, there’s the whole cast, including a look at hard-nosed sheriff Hugo Root, and Cassidy looking quite dapper with the umbrella. If you look closely, you can see Ian Colletti is in full makeup, although AMC doesn’t credit him as “Arseface.” Considering how he gets that name in the comics, we might have to wait to see what happens to Hugo.

We also get a good look at the three core cast members:

That last one, by the way, a nice little nod to the covers of the original comic, painted by Glen Fabry.

This shot similarly draws from Fabry’s work, albeit it’s a bit less cynical, admittedly hard to do when you’ve got these two in the picture.

Finally, we’ve got the most substantially changed characters from the original, Fiore and DeBlanc. In the original comic, they were angels who screwed up the jailing of Genesis, a merging of angel and demon, and tried to get it out of Jesse Custer. Here, if nothing else, they’ve at least managed to ditch the mullets and tunics for slightly more stylish duds. Although if you pay attention to the teaser, it still doesn’t go well for them in Annville.

There are, however, a few characters missing. For example, there’s no sign of the first season’s main antagonist, Odin Quincannon. But they can’t reveal everything, of course. We’ll see just what happens when Annville gets religion May 22.
