‘Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps’ To Deliver Team-Based, Competitive Zombie Blasting Action

Lately, the Resident Evil series has returned to its roots in a pretty serious way. After critics and gamers alike panned the action and shooting-heavy Resident Evil 6, Capcom took things in a more horror-heavy direction with Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Capcom also recently announced that they’re finally remaking Resident Evil 2.

Apparently, Capcom isn’t entirely done with more modern, action-heavy takes on Resident Evil. Earlier today at the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom and Sony announced Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps, a new online multiplayer shooter that takes place in the Resident Evil universe. Basically, teams of players will battle for supremacy like in a regular multiplayer shooter, while also having to tactically deal with hordes of the undead and other hideously mutated baddies.

Sounds like a solid concept, and the game’s debut trailer shows off some interesting tools and weapons. Umbrella Corps isn’t exactly what I want from Resident Evil, but hey, I’m getting my Resident Evil 2 remake, so if Capcom also wants to do a shooter, I’m not going to rake them over the coals for it. Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps comes out early 2016 for PC and PS4 and at a price of $30.
