Here’s How Scientists Finally Proved Einstein’s Theory Of Relativity 100 Years Later

So you might’ve heard that science finally did something cool for once and didn’t try to ruin your life. Instead of informing you that you’ll never be Spider-Man or that the entire universe is going to fry your descendants like an egg, scientists went ahead and proved that Einstein was correct in his thinking all those years ago. That’s because we finally found a way to detect gravitational waves. If you want to know what that means for you, feel free to check out our handy explainer.

But how did they do it? Well it turns out they used a LIGO site (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory) and shot lasers that were able to aid in the detection of these waves. How were they created? Well as the hypothesis state, two black holes colliding with each other create this wave that moves through space and is then able to be measured by the LIGO site back here on Earth. When the measurement was found, scientists finally got a confirmation for Einstein and now have an in to discover more about black holes than we ever have before.

Will we be traveling through time soon? Probably not. But there’s hope for one day down the road and this is progress for scientific study. Too bad all of the other terrible stuff is also happening which might stop us from ever putting it to good use. Good luck traveling through time when you’re dealing with sand worms.
