‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Will Be The Biggest Ever, And Not Just Because Of Apocalypse’s Size

You’ve seen the first trailer by now, so it should come as no surprise that X-Men: Apocalypse has one of the biggest and baddest villains of the series. Oscar Isaac’s portrayal of Apocalypse, the ancient villain about to wreak havoc on the mutants and on Earth, has the ability to grow to a huge size, among many other powers. But according to writer/producer Simon Kinberg, this installment of the relaunched franchise is also going to be the biggest movie yet.

At a recent fan Q&A, Kinberg discussed what the new film will entail, and it unsurprisingly involves a lot of endangerment of humanity and the mutants.

“We’ve never done one of these movies where the whole world — there’s like an extinction-level threat to the world. The whole world’s at stake.”

As far as Apocalypse’s motivations, besides crushing Charles with his powers, Kinberg has some succinct thoughts:

“He’s more interested in the sort of survival of the fittest. The strongest, no matter what they may be, surviving and making essentially a better world.”

Sounds like all of our friendly (and not so friendly) mutants have their work cut out for them. Now that Jean and the rest of the dearly departed have been brought back to life in a new timeline, they can get right to work helping to stop the madness that the big purple Apocalypse meany is about to bring to Earth. He may have his four horsemen, but the mutants have each other. Hopefully that will be enough when it’s all said and done.
