‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ Goes To Hoth In Leaked Gameplay Footage

Star Wars: Battlefront is a beloved franchise not least because it let you play a nameless grunt on either side of the franchise’s biggest battles. And that tradition appears to be holding true with its return, in this new gameplay footage.

Sadly, you only see footage from both Rebel and Imperial footsoldiers in this footage that leaked from the alpha, and the gameplay itself appears to be pretty straightforward: You find the enemy, use a blaster on them, and dodge grenades. That said, this is an alpha, so you can’t really expect every last mechanic in the game to show up.

Besides, the fact that it’s almost impossibly pretty more than makes up for it. This game looks really, really good; you can almost feel the chill of Hoth as you watch troops jetpack over it hosing each other down with lasers and thermal detonators. One does have to wonder how the vehicles feel, but considering this is being developed by DICE, the creators of Battlefield, one assumes the vehicle combat will feel good.

We won’t have to wait long to discover just how good; the game is scheduled to arrive November 17, and will deliver a map set on Jakku just to sweeten the deal.
