Carrie Fisher’s Daughter Billie Lourd Is Returning For A Bigger Role In ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’

Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd has been making a name for herself as one of The Chanels on Fox’s Scream Queens, but she also had a brief cameo in her mom’s latest movie. Lourd played Lieutenant Connix in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens — she’s the blonde with the iconic Leia cinnamon-bun hair who pipes up to ask her mom “General, are you seeing this?” during one of the scenes in the Rebel command center.

Lourd’s appearance in The Force Awakens was a nice little Easter egg, but could her role end up expanding into something more substantial? It sounds like it may be the case. SlashFilm recently caught up with Lourd on the red carpet and asked her whether she’d be doing more Star Wars.

“Yes. I can’t say much about it, but yes. I am working on Star Wars VIII, but that’s all I can say.”

Okay, she’s coming back, which by itself might indicate they have plans for Lieutenant Connix. Lourd was specifically asked if she’d have a larger role in Episode VIII.

“Oh yeah, yeah. The last one was a little Where’s Waldo-y.”

Okay, it’s not much to go on, but it would certainly make thematic sense to give Lourd a bigger role, given Star Wars is all about parents, their kids and what you pass on to the next generation. I would not be at all surprised if Carrie Fisher’s real-life daughter, and her movie offspring Kylo Ren were to have a scene together before this particular Star Wars trilogy is finished.
