Dig Deeper Into The New ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer With These Things You May Have Missed

The newest trailer for Suicide Squad dropped with a bang this week, and there are six things you possibly missed upon initial viewing. Mr. Sunday Movies — whom you may know from his deep dives into the trailers for Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse, Batman V Superman, and Captain America: Civil War — compiled these references, Easter eggs, and confirmations of rumors into the video above.

Among the things he noticed is that straight-up magic is now part of the DC Cinematic Universe, thanks to Katana (Karen Fukuhara) and her soul-eating katana.

Mr. Sunday Movies goes on to speculate something we’re also expecting: Slipknot (Adam Beach) doesn’t live for long. He also dives into the rumors about who Ike Barinholtz and Jim Parrack are playing. In a recent interview, Barinholtz deflected rumors about playing Dr. Hugo Strange while seemingly confirming Jim Parrack is playing Joker henchman Jonny Frost. In the newest trailer, Parrack is indeed seen as Frost, but Barinholtz is seen dressed as a guard and roughing up Deadshot (Will Smith), but he’s also seen wearing what appears to be a doctor’s white coat while being terrorized by the Joker:

In other words, we’re still not sure who Barinholtz is playing. Also unclear is who the main antagonist of the Squad will really be. The footage we’ve seen so far aligns with a rumor we’ve heard that Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) may prove to be a bigger threat than Joker. If she’s the big bad, this would also explain what she’s doing in the White House.

The trailer also appears to reveal how Dr. Harleen Quinzel became Harley Quinn, courtesy of a vat at Ace Chemicals (which we already saw hinted at in a set photo).

Hopping into a vat of chemicals with your girlfriend? That seems really dangerous…
