‘Suicide Squad’ Posters And Magazine Covers Feature A Mischievous Harley And Joker

Warner is allegedly going through some shake-ups following Batman V Superman‘s lower-than-expected box-office returns, and one of those changes involves focusing more heavily on their reportedly well-received supervillain team-up movie Suicide Squad. The film already has an R-rated sequel (with director David Ayer returning) and potential spin-offs in the works, and now Warner has released more promo photos in the form of six one-sheets and two variant covers of French magazine Cinema Teaser.

Many of these posters prominently feature Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, which makes sense considering Warner is rumored to be developing a Harley Quinn spinoff produced by and starring Robbie. The posters also focus on Floyd Lawton AKA Deadshot (Will Smith) and The Joker (Jared Leto, method actor extraordinaire). One of the magazine covers also focuses on Joker, and it may be a bit of a plot hint:

The Joker is playing with a Newton’s Cradle which has the previously-established tattoo logos of the characters printed on the balls. He’s poised to let the Harley Quinn ball knock the rest of them around and against one another. This jibes with what Margot Robbie has said about her character, that she uses people’s triggers to mess with them and “finds joy in causing mayhem.” Maybe we’re reading way too much into it, but we’d be surprised if Joker and Harley weren’t playing people against each other.

Here are the rest of the new pictures. Worst. Heroes. Ever.
