Ever since the first Supergirl trailer, there’s been more than a little anxiety over whether the show would feature, you know, actual superheroics. So, here’s a solid minute of Supergirl lifting planes, bashing through things, punching chauvinist aliens at Mach 3, and generally being Supergirl.
It looks good; since the first trailer, they’ve spent a little money polishing the effects, from the looks of things. It’s also a nice touch that Supergirl has to exert herself to use her powers, instead of being a dainty gravity-defying princess. Come on, even if you’re a Kryptonian, keeping a plane stable can’t exactly be an easy job.
That said, I hope they do a better job on the aliens she punches through walls going forward. Yeah, I get it, the CGI this show needs isn’t cheap, and the Lumberjack is clearly here to be more punching bag than fleshed-out villain. But slapping a ridgy bald cap on some dude and calling it a day isn’t going to cut it. At least slap a funny nose on him!
As for when you’ll get to see Supergirl deck a misogynist douchebag, the show will premiere October 26. You have until then to figure out whether you’re going to watch it or Gotham, as they’re going head to head.
