Surprise! ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s 4’ Is Out Three Months Early

Scott Cawthon, the mastermind behind the Five Nights At Freddy’s franchise, is notoriously bad with release dates. As in, the fourth game in his hugely popular series, supposedly arriving on Halloween? It’s out now.

This entry, yet another one that’s supposedly “the last” and will be until Cawthon decides he still likes money, takes the series to its natural conclusion. Instead of a security guard at some pizza hole for kids, you’re one of the kids who escaped said pizza hole. The only problem is that you’re trapped with a whole bunch of Teddy Ruxpin-esque Freddy Fazbear toys at home, and you’ve only got a flashlight to defend yourself with.

Honestly, having given it a quick play, it’s a welcome stripping-down of the franchise. This time around, it’s all about sound and listening. It’s still a game of red light/green light, but it’s easier to get into. And, hey, it’s eight bucks; isn’t that a small price to play for a game where you’ll probably feed a small child to haunted robots?
