Gareth Edwards is hard at work on the first Star Wars spinoff, allegedly a heist movie that needs to steal a new writer. But if they’re going to meet a release date, they need a cast, and some interesting auditions are happening right now.

Tatiana Maslany, best known for being screwed out of an Emmy every single year for Orphan Black, and Rooney Mara, who was the walking plot device in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, are both up for a role in the Star Wars spinoff, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Felicity Jones is also supposedly up for the role, but she’s been cast in an inexplicable third Da Vinci Code movie, so she may not be in the running.

As to what role they’d actually be playing… good question! Disney’s been keeping the exact nature of the spinoff under wraps, and likely won’t have much to say about it until they’ve shot some footage and have an actual movie to talk about. That said, we’ll be curious to see how it comes together, especially if they just say screw it and have Maslany play all the parts.
