Telltale Games Outs ‘The Wolf Among Us’

Up above? Not a panel from Fables. It’s from The Wolf Among Us, Telltale’s latest episodic adventure game, and it looks really, really good.

The first trailer doesn’t have much in the way of gameplay footage, unfortunately. But it’s got plenty of flash, as you can see from the trailer that just debuted on IGN.

Interestingly, this entire story is actually going to be in canon with the comic book, quite a trick considering how long it’s been in print. It’ll be a lot like the Walking Dead in that you have to choose between trying to help everyone get along and be the sheriff you’re supposed to be, and just uncorking the wolf and kicking some ass. Needless to say, your choices have consequences that you have to deal with.

It’s actually been in development for a while: News of this game dates back to 2011, but then Telltale released The Walking Dead and found itself having to focus all its resources on polishing those episodes once it became clear that they had a GOTY contender on their hands. But it’s probably for the better on this game: Telltale has had the time to polish their mechanics and develop the game further.

If nothing else, you can tell the studio has more money based on the animation and art. It’s pretty rare that something actually feels like a comic book come to life, but this looks to be the closest anyone has gotten in gaming. By all accounts, we’ll see this by the end of September on multiple platforms.
