The CW’s Third DC Show Is Officially ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’, And Here’s A Synopsis

After a lot of speculation, rumors, and annoyance at the ArrowFlash spin-off taking forever to find a title, it’s official: The CW is launching a third DC show, Legends of Tomorrow. And the official plot synopsis sounds like classic DC.

Courtesy of Coming Soon, here’s what it will actually be about:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

To give you an idea of just how ragtag this team is, it’s got the Atom, Black Canary, Hawkgirl, Captain Cold, Heat Wave, the aforementioned Rip Hunter, at least half of Firestorm, and Franz Drameh as somebody The CW is calling “Jay Jackson.” As for who they’re up against who can threaten all of time… well, this being DC we’re talking about, that could be a fairly long list. Personally, I’m hoping it’s one of the sillier villains, like Monarch.

It also appears that Rip might be yanking our heroes out of various eras to pull together the team, which is interesting not least because it might just mean they’ll open up the Arrowverse to different eras of superheroes, or alternate realities. Which is a whole other can of worms, but Arrow is on its fourth season, they can’t just keep threatening Starling City for the inevitably decade it’s on the air, right?
