Dwayne Johnson, better known as “The Rock” of pro-grappling fame pretty much looks like a living action figure, but oddly he’s never been given the chance to play an actual superhero. Come on Hollywood, if you’re going to let Ben Affleck play a superhero, there’s no way you can justify denying the Rock.
Well, Rocky may finally be getting his comic book movie — rumor is he may be stepping into the role of Lobo. Rock certainly seemed to be hinting at it when he responded on Twitter with a “Funny U say that” when a fan asked him about the possibility of playing a DC Comics character.
So, Rock as Lobo — could it work? Rock is funny and likes to talk about his wiener, and Lobo is at least supposed to be funny and likes to talk about his wiener. Both like to make up words and are good a simulating badassery in a PG environment. On the other hand, the role would probably require Rock to wear a wig, which might induce Scorpion King flashbacks.
Of course the movie will probably be garbage regardless of how well Rock does in the role. It’s being written by Brad Peyton, the fertile mind behind Journey 2 and Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, and reportedly producers want it to be a sassy kid-friendly adventure. So, basically it’ll be just like most recent Rock movies, except he’ll be painted white and saying “bastitch” slightly more often than usual.
