AMC’s ‘Preacher’ Trailer Looks As Bloody And Gratuitously Violent As Expected

After a a brief sneak peak, AMC debuted the trailer for the highly anticipated Preacher series during Sunday evening’s extra-long episode of The Walking Dead. From the looks of things, the trailer will likely meet the hefty (yet studiously cautious) expectations of Vertigo fans, who were wondering exactly how a PG-13 language treatment would affect the adaptation of an extremely profane comic book series.

Rest assured, and if this trailer is any indication, the harsh language barrier will be overcome by an extremely bloody and violent portrayal of the action. In this trailer, we see Jesse Custer handling the request of a young child, who is well aware of Custer’s legendary status.

Chaos ensues, and — amidst the mayhem — we catch a brief glimpse of Ruth Negga as Tulip O’Hare and Joseph Gilgun as Irish vampire Cassidy. This trailer gives a good sense of where AMC is going with the late 1990s cult comic of the small town Texas preacher who finds himself infused with a supernatural ability (courtesy of Genesis, an entity that is part angel and part demon). This road trip in search of God himself is sure to be one terrifically bloody ride.

Extra emphasis on the “bloody.”
