Vin Diesel recently visited the Happy Sad Confused podcast to eat a turkey sandwich, promote The Last Witch Hunter, and tell a few anecdotes about writing a script in five days so he could return the word processor for a full refund, shooting a short film over a weekend so he only had to pay for one day of equipment rental, and walking away from half a million dollars while quitting Ben Affleck’s most famous movie (Reindeer Games) over a disagreement with director John Frankenheimer.

And between all of those anecdotes, host Josh Horowitz was able to get an update on the long-rumored and recently-revived possibility of Vin Diesel playing Black Bolt, the non-speaking leader of Marvel’s Inhumans. Diesel explained what it’ll take to get him on board:

“It’s not a matter of me wooing Marvel, it’s a matter of Marvel wooing me. And I love them, but I’m just saying, show me a dope script and show me a great director, all of which I know that Kevin [Feige] is capable of, because he dazzled me when he suggested Groot. […] I thought it was genius. I’m not doing anything just for work. I’m doing things that I can feel passionate about, and that I feel like I can contribute to.”

Marvel’s Inhumans is currently slated for July 12, 2019, but no writer, director, or cast members have been announced yet. Although, from the sound of it, they can easily get Diesel involved as long as the director is a little more collaborative with him than Frankenheimer reportedly was.
