Warner Bros. Are Looking To Turn ‘Minecraft’ Into Their Next Blockbuster

Blockbuster! Because Minecraft is blocky! See what I did there?

Minecraft is a game without much of a backstory, featuring indistinct cardboard box characters and gameplay that’s all about freedom and creativity as opposed to structured storytelling, soooo of course that means somebody wants to make a movie out of it!

Warner Bros. recently acquired the movie rights to Minecraft, a fact the game’s creator Notch confirmed via Twitter…

If there’s a light at the end of this tunnel, it’s that the movie is being produced by Roy Lee, who also produced The Lego Movie, so he clearly knows a thing or two about making blocky characters entertaining. If there’s a big stinky turd at the end of the tunnel, it’s that the movie is going to be live action. How the hell is that going to work?

Hopefully I can get in on the movie Beta and suggest some improvements. If the movie is nothing but a guy harassing pigs and giving up on all his projects halfway through, you’ll know I got my fingerprints on it.
