Watch The Peacemaker From ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Prove Just How Real Those Stunts Are

As we all know, Mad Max: Fury Road is all practical effects. Things actually blow up, people actually swing from poles, and, it turns out, the custom cars you see in the movie are capable of doing all those insane stunts right out of the box.

Up above is a full episode of Howe & Howe Tech, which is entirely about building the Peacemaker and its amphibious military equivalent, the Riptide. They never explicitly say “Hey, this is a car from Mad Max,” but recent YouTube clips the company has posted confirm it’s the Peacemaker.

The episode offers an overview of the prop’s construction and what went into making it the maniacal ride it is in the movie. But if you just want to see it in action, the testing starts at the 22:00 mark and, among other things, shows the Peacemaker climbing sand dunes like they’re nothing and ripping down a dirt road at 70 mph as if it’s a speedboat. And this is before George Miller got his hands on it and started choreographing stunts with this thing. Forget movie props, guys. Open a dealership.
