Will Kang The Conqueror Ever Show Up In The Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Slowly but surely, James Gunn‘s many social media followers have teased the tiniest morsels of information out of the director regarding his forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy 2 at Marvel. From known outlets like Twitter, to newer iterations like Periscope, Gunn has had a lot of fun doing a bit of Marvelesque sharing and non-sharing.

Of course Gunn has been focusing a bit more on his upcoming film The Belko Experiment, including his most recent casting announcement on Facebook. But comic book movies fans are a relentless bunch, so when one asked Gunn about whether or not Kang the Conqueror would be a part of the Guardians sequel, he had this to say:

For those who aren’t in the know, Kang the Conqueror is a cosmic super villain who begins life as Nathaniel Richards — a historian from the 30th century. With the aid of time travel, Richards travels back to ancient Egypt, adopts the mantel of Pharaoh Rama-Tut, and proceeds to abuse his technological powers to a great extent. He basically garners a great deal of knowledge and power, becoming Kang the Conqueror — time-traveling badass — in the process.

So yeah, yet another Marvel character owned by Fox that Marvel Studios can’t use in its standalone cinematic universe. Huzzah.
