Most of the X-Men movies have had kind of weak villains. When you have to introduce and give time to half-a-dozen (or more) X-Men, the villains often get short shrift. The bad guys are just there for the fight scenes, but otherwise don’t get much time in the spotlight or development.
Well, it seems like that won’t be the case with X-Men: Apocalypse. Fox is really hyping Apocalypse and his Four Horsemen as being of equal importance to the X-Men. Of course, it helps that two of the Four Horsemen are the already well-established Magneto and Storm. Up above, you can check out a new featurette that really underlines what a major threat the Horsemen are going to be. There are some new bits of footage in there, so it’s definitely worth a look.

I’ve always felt like the X-Men movies played second fiddle to the output of Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. big DC movies, but it definitely seems like they’re amping things up time around. Hopefully great villains end up equaling a great movie.
The Apocalypse arrives in theaters May 27.
