Over the weekend, Tumblr DC Women Kicking Ass noticed something odd about the coloring of a preview of Flashpoint, Geoff Johns’ new Flash story, which appeared in the Green Lantern comic distributed for Free Comic Book Day. Mainly that XS, the daughter of Barry Allen, was not in the picture. In her place was a blonde-haired white girl.
I was concerned that the one of the few women of color in the Flash family, XS also known as Barry Allen’s granddaughter Jenni Ognats, had been white washed.
Today, the preview is shown online at USA TODAY and shows a big change.
Oops. Looks like someone was coloring in all the white people and just got on a roll. In his defense, there are an awful lot of white people in the DCU. I reached out to DC for a comment and they confirmed that the USA Today preview is the accurate coloring for the book.
