Hosted by DJ Khaled, The BET Hip Hop Awards 2016 were filmed at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre last month, but are airing tonight. Some of the winners so far include Remy Ma and Fat Joe’s “All The Way Up” (“Best Track”), Kendrick Lamar for “Best Lyricist,” and Chance The Rapper just walked away with “Best New Hip-Hop Artist” over the likes of Fetty Wap and .Anderson Paak.
Snoop Dogg took home the night’s highest honor with the “I Am Hip-Hop” award. In his speech, Uncle Snoop encouraged the new generation of rappers to be themselves, despite being misunderstood. “You gotta keep pushing, be original and diverse,” the living rap legend advised.
