In what’s become a refrain associated with the name, Cash Money Records is reportedly being sued for $3.3 million for not paying artists their just due. According to TMZ, the latest legal action against Birdman’s label originates from a suit filed by songwriters over two songs that feature Lil Wayne: Lloyd’s “You” and Glasses Malone’s “Certified.” Although it’s unclear who’s suing for the latter song, the Lloyd track uses Spandau Ballet’s well known hit “You.”

The alleged lawsuits both highlight songs from 2007. Taken from his Street Love album, “You” performed well on radio and the charts for Lloyd and Wayne, peaking at no. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Produced by DJ Toomp, “Certified” also featured Akon along with Weezy and Malone but it didn’t have a major impact outside of the Beach Cruiser LP it appeared on.

By now, most fans know how CMR rolls when it comes to paying what they owe since numerous lawsuits have been filed against the company by artists, producers and more. The most notable case at the moment involves Lil Wayne’s claim that he’s owed $51 million for not only earnings the company made off his work but also that of his two Young Money artists, Drake and Nicki Minaj. So chances are the plaintiffs in this new case will have to join the long line of musicians ahead of them waiting to get paid.
