Dave East Doesn’t Know ‘Nothin Bout Nothin’ So Stop Asking Him Questions

“Here’s some new Dave East to listen to.”

The reason why that first sentence is in quotes is because it might sound redundant. Over the last few weeks the Harlem emcee has released at least a mixtape-worth of songs to the general public. His newest mixtape Kairi Chanelwas supposed to be released at the end of July but July has come and gone and there’s still no project in sight. It’s hard to tell if Dave is simply trying to keep the streets fed or if he’s just buying time until Kairi‘s complete.

In some ways, this is probably just a spoiled fan talking. After all, what sort of person complains about free music from their favorite artist? The problem is that Dave East has already proven that he can make good songs. He’s proven that he can make great songs. And his last mixtape, Hate Me Now, was a certified banger. East’s skillset has improved a bit since his last outing and fans, impatient or unreasonable as they may be, want to see young Harlem emcee take the next step.

Whatever the case, “Nothin’ Bout Nothin,” is another quality release for East. Anything good that’s been said about his aggressive lyrics or hard-hitting beats applies here, just like it applied to all the other songs he’s released within the last month. It’s a quality track, but he’s getting dangerously close to over-saturating the market.
