DJ Khaled Gets Drake On ‘For Free’ Just In Time To Own The Summer

Drake sure does love interpolating lyrics from the Bay huh?

Guess it doesn’t matter if the song is flame emojis and Drizzy and DJ Khaled’s “For Free” is just that. The cool, summertime banger borrows a few bars from Too Short’s Bay Area classic “Blow The Whistle,” and that’s sure to rankle Meek Mill and that sect of the internet just a tad. Oh well though, they won’t be able to prevent this song from getting spins all summer. With a Future and Jay Z collab still in the cut, it’s looking like Khaled’s Major Key is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

What might be the biggest tidbit to come out of “For Free” is the hat tip to Drake’s sworn subliminal enemy Kendrick Lamar. The title itself may be a subtle homage but smashes all subtly with the line “And like you boy from Compton said, you know this d*ck ain’t free.” Maybe it’s the olive branch they’ve needed to end the silliness, or maybe there never really was any beef and it was all in our imagination. Knowing Khaled, he just might have the next Drake and K.Dot collaboration on Major Key. Who knows?
