Thursday’s celebration of Tupac’s 45th birthday didn’t come without a multitude of tributes from various artists. G Herbo was one of those MCs who came through with a track channeling the spirit of Makaveli, “Hail Mary (Remix).” Produced by 808 Chase Davis, the song’s beat captures the feel of the original with a few tweaks to make it differ. Herbo kicks it off with a R.I.P. shout to the late Afeni Shakur before unloading with a barrage of bars in which he cops to living “Guwop wild” in the streets. He rhymes “I might go to hail while I’m smoking mary, n****, I’m a young Tupac” and his fiery energy might be something the rap great would nod at in approval.
