When you have the reach of Drake’s 37 million Instagram followers, I guess you don’t need a promotional cycle when you decide to release an EP because that’s all OVO artist PARTYNEXTDOOR used to announce the release of his new project Colours 2.

The Mississauga crooner has been quiet in 2017, mostly sitting back and collecting plaques for his songwriting and production prowess on tracks like “Shining” with Beyonce, Jay Z and DJ Khaled. Still, with a new worldwide arena tour set to kick off this fall with Halsey and Charlie XCX it was a safe bet PND would be delivering some new music at some point and now he’s back with Colours 2 just in time for the summer.

It’s just four tracks, par the course for PND as his albums and mixtapes are usually brief, and the LP is a sequel to the 2014 LP that was just four songs as well. With a whole tour to headline later this year, this might just be the tip of the iceberg for new material from PND this summer, but even if it’s not it’s four new songs for his fans to enjoy until he releases PND 4 or whatever he’s calling his next album at some point. And as for the surprise release, well we shouldn’t be too surprised since PND’s OVO boss Drizzy basically killed the traditional album release years ago.
