A San Diego State Player Celebrated A Big Play In The Worst Way By Delivering A Flying Groin Shot

Taking a sack is never fun for a quarterback at any level of football, and that extends to what Wyoming signal-caller Josh Allen went through on Saturday evening in the Mountain West Championship Game. However, this was not a typical sack from San Diego State defender Kyle Kelley as it ended with some extra fireworks.

On first and 10 from the Wyoming 14-yard line, Allen was dropped by Kelley for a nine-yard loss, and that should have been the end of the play. The celebration from Kelley turned into a more painful play for Allen, as Aztecs defensive lineman Noble Hall followed through after jumping on his teammate’s back and ended up with a punch to the unmentionable section of the opposing quarterback’s body.

For whatever reason, the defense was not flagged on the play, presumably because intent was not perfectly clear in this instance. Somewhat fittingly, the next play from scrimmage by Wyoming was a 66-yard run from Brian Hill that probably eased the pain a bit for the offense, but justice was not served in this instance, as nut punches should never be rewarded by the absence of a penalty flag.

This looked (very) painful for Josh Allen, but the 6-foot-5 sophomore stayed in the game and full-on crisis seems to be averted.
