In anticipation of his highly-awaited solo debut album, Pusha T dipped out to Kingston, Jamaica to shoot a music video for his single “Blocka.” Already cinematic in nature, Pusha’s ominous track needed the proper treatment, so a trip to the Yard was only proper. While out there he was joined by Complex Magazine’s capo, Noah Callahan-Bever, for an exclusive interview. The Mass Appeal alum chops it up with Push as they discuss a myriad of topics, all while traversing through the back blocks of Jamaica.
With the rapport of old friends, Pusha speaks with Noah about his life in Virginia and its impact on his music. They discuss the relationship between giving up a piece of yourself and reaching mainstream success, to which he proclaims, “I’m not making any music that has me stepping out of my zone.” Push illustrates the fame of Pharrell Williams and Kanye West as well as articulates his relationship with them and where his presence fits into the fold. He states, “My job is to keep bringing this hot shit to table, and to keep letting them know what’s hot out there.” Knowing where he stands and where he wants to be, Pusha is ready for what’s next.
