290 days until Star Wars: R2-D2 and C-3P0 to star in animated ‘Droid Tales’

Disney XD has solidified itself as the destination for all your animated Star Wars needs. First with “Star Wars Rebels” and now this new limited-series event featuring everyone”s favorite droids.

The LEGO Group and Disney announced late last week that they will be teaming up for a brand-new animated special set in a galaxy far, far away. “LEGO Star Wars™: Droid Tales” will be a limited-run of five 22-minutes episodes that retells the entirety of the Star Wars movie saga in chronological order from the perspective of R2-D2 and C-3P0. 

While information about when the limited series will air is not yet available, an overview was released by The LEGO Group:

Following their victory celebration in the Ewok village on Endor, seen at the close of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, C-3PO and R2-D2 have gathered to regale Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and the other Rebels with the tales of their adventures that led to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.  An accidental kidnapping occurs while the droids are reminiscing and suddenly viewers are taken on a new adventure that leads to encounters with familiar faces and places that prompt the re-telling of the entire saga. The series offers all of the playful humor that viewers expect from LEGO Star Wars.

”Droid Tales” appears to be part of a larger collaboration that between the two media conglomerates, as additional LEGO Star Wars activities have been teased as being launched throughout the year. Lucasfilm and LEGO hope the events will help fans of all ages catch up on Star Wars lore ahead of the release of “Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens.”
