Those ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ filming delay rumors might be greatly exaggerated

The next Star Wars movie is only 322 days away. But while Rogue One: A Star Wars Story might be the next installment out of the gate, today we”re focusing on Star Wars: Episode VIII and star Daisy Ridley.

Rumors have been swirling that Episode VIII is undergoing rewrites in light of how popular certain characters have become. There”s even been speculation that Disney pushed the date of the movie to December to accommodate these changes.

Before all this, John Boyega surprised fans in Brixton at a screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. While talking to fans, the conversation turned to Boyega”s next turn as Finn. He seemed confident production was about to gear up:

[W]e are so happy to be starting on Episode Eight in a few weeks in London and it is going to be fun.

That was right around Christmas. Now – a month later – Daisy Ridley seems to confirm the cast and crew are about to be back on set. Rewrites or no, production looks to be on schedule.

The note attached to Ridley”s flowers is mostly obscured (and the print is super tiny) but the legible part appears to say, “As we begin the production(?) […] appreciation for your…” which is a nice gesture.

Delays or not, Star Wars: Episode VIII arrives in theaters December 15, 2017.
