5 interesting tidbits from the new ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ virtual tour

Lucasfilm and Disney sure have been getting their money”s worth out of that shot of a downed Star Destroyer buried in the Jakku sand. It”s pretty impressive how such a tiny sliver of “The Force Awakens” keeps stringing us along with new information, new visuals, and new mysteries to solve.

To that end, today Star Wars posted a 360 degree virtual tour of the landscape that surrounds the fallen Star Destroyer. Board Rey”s speeder and check out Jakku from the ground. Don't forget to pause and drag your mouse around. Then meet me below to parse the hell out of it!

#1: Rey”s speeder controls.
Nothing fancy. Just a shot of what things looked like for Daisy Ridley when she was driving her speeder across the desert.

#2: This AT-AT.
We know the new “Star Wars Battlefront” video game will have DLC for the Battle of Jakku and now it appears confirmed we”ll be seeing AT-ATs lumbering across the dunes. You”d think there would be traction issues on shifting sand as opposed to packed-down snow, but what do I know?

#3: Transport”s on fire, yo.
It definitely looks like it was hauling goods but why the ship is smoking and falling from the sky is a mystery. No amount of panning could find where the cruiser comes from prior to appearing from behind the rubble. Were they helping Rey? Fighting her?

#4: This angry, yelling alien in a speeder.
What does he want? It”s like he”s trying to speak to us, I just know it!

Or is he even an alien? Even with HD turned on, it was difficult to get clear shots of the people of Jakku. However, you can tell this guy has goggles on and is brandishing a shiny metal stick. So it could very well be THIS dude.

#5: This adorable scavenger.
It makes sense that an entire market would pop up around the downed Star Destroyer. These things were huge – sometimes the size of Manhattan. Even with scavengers working around the clock, it would take decades to pilfer everything of use.

Again, it was nigh impossible to get a good look at this creature”s face. But based on stature and shape, it might be whatever alien species this is.

What do you guys think? Is this just another cool extra feature or are we privy to new plot points from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”?
