A Series of Unfortunate Events’ teaser features Lemony breaking the fourth wall

Clip It: Each day, Jon Davis looks at the world of trailers, featurettes, and clips and puts it all in perspective.

Look at Lemony walking around the beautiful set of A Series of Unfortunate Events. I also like the name Lemony. Lemony!

Based on the popular children's book series “Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events,” the show is a second stab at bringing the franchise to life.

There was a movie adaptation starring Jim Carrey in 2004. A couple of the creative people who were originally involved in that film but vacated for various production reasons have returned for this. Barry Sonnenfeld was set to direct the 2004 movie and Daniel Handler, the author of the books, wrote the first screenplay. When the studio took the movie a different direction, they left the project. So if you enjoyed the 2004 movie, you have other people to thank. But now the original adapters have returned for this series, so we can presumably see the most accurate vision for Lemony Snicket with about six more hours added to the mix.

I do think it's kind of funny to see Patrick Warburton talking in a low, mumbly voice to the camera about production and behind the scenes people. After all, this is based on a children's series. Does the core audience care about this? Wouldn't they rather be teased with shots of the kids and the scary villain Olaf? I don't know, I'm not a kid, sadly.

I'm sure I will be watching this with my son in about eight years.
