Adam Lambert wants ‘Decay’ on ‘Twilight: Eclipse’ soundtrack

Like so many artists did for “Twilight Saga: New Moon,” Adam Lambert is throwing his hat in the ring for a spot on the next “Twilight” soundtrack.

The “American Idol” star mentioned he’d like to hear his unreleased track “Suburban Decay” on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” according to MTV. The track is produced by Rob Cavallo and was originally intended for his new album “For Your Entertainment” but didn’t make the cut.

“I think it will find a home, on a soundtrack or something … maybe ‘Twilight,’ ” he said. “It just didn’t quite fit [in my album]. It’s very theatrical. … It’s very campy, and it was just a bit too campy for the album as a big picture… Hey, ‘Eclipse’ … Want my song? It’s kind of about vampires.”

“Campy” isn’t exactly the word to describe the washy intensity of this last compilation, put together by “New Moon” music supervisor and indie expert Alexandra Patsavas. As you’re well aware, Thom Yorke, Bon Iver, Muse and The Killers were on this set, though the latter two bands have at least some resemblance to Lambert’s dark, overactive tracks.

Lambert has at least some soundtrack experience, with the “Time for Miracles” theme in “2012.”

“Eclipse” is due June 30 next year. “New Moon” is in theaters now.
