Is drag the flavor of the month for Hollywood’s leading men?  Last week Ryan Reynolds committed to star as a man who pretends to be a woman to get his girlfriend back in an untitled Universal comedy and now, Adam Sandler is preparing to get pretty.  Well, he’ll certainly try.

According to Variety, Sandler will play both title characters in the new romantic comedy “Jack and Jill.”  Not much is known about the project except that Jack and Jill are twins and not a couple.  Where the “romantic” portion of the film comes in is still unclear.

Todd Garner, who collaborated with Happy Madison on “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” will produce with Sandler and his longtime Madison partner Jack Giarraputo.  Sandler’s former “Saturday Night Live” colleague Steve Koren wrote the script.  The box office superstar has done drag before.  On “SNL” he appeared in the recurring skit “Gap Girls.”

Sandler will return to the big screen next summer in the ensemble comedy “Grown Ups” with buddies Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade and Rob Schneider in the mix.

“Jack and Jill” should begin filming in early 2010 for a 2011 release.

[Correction: An earlier version of this story listed Garner as the director of “Jack and Jill.” He is a producer.]
