Anne Hathaway Drops The Mic on ‘The Late Late Show’

Easily the biggest success of The Late Late Show with James Corden has been the wildly popular “Carpool Karaoke” segment in which Corden jams out in his car with musical guests. The only problem is that non-musicians can't really join the fun (and the less said about some actors' music careers, the better). But last night, The Late Late Show found a way to remedy that with a new segment called “Drop the Mic” featuring Anne Hathaway and James Corden in a rap battle.

The segment was equally funny and embarrassing, like watching your parents try to rap along to hip-hop on the radio, but that's part of what makes Corden so endearing. In “Drop the Mic,” Corden takes good-spirited cheap shots at the, er, lesser highlights of Hathaway's career (her accent in One Day, her stint as Oscars host) and she retaliates by dissing his ratings and labeling Corden the “worst British export since smallpox.” Neither Hathaway or Corden could hold their own in 8 Mile but it's still a fun segment.
