Based on ‘The Divergent Series: Allegiant’ trailer, will book fans be disappointed?

The new trailer dropped for “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” today and I'll admit that I'm a bit on the fence as to how I feel about it. I openly admit that some (okay a lot) of the draw to the Divergent movies for me is Theo James and, if you're a Theo James fan, you're going to be very happy –– that said, if you're a fan of the book you may find yourself feeling a little disappointed.

Basically if you haven't read the books, get ready for spoilers and lots of 'em. Unlike the teaser that dropped about two months ago, this new trailer isn't hiding any secrets. If you have read the books, you'll watch this trailer and see a lot of upgrades (especially to vehicles) which will likely throw you off. I watched it and I don't recall any kind of tech like this from the book. Sure, it looks cool. A lot of it looks really cool. It's just not what you likely imagined when you read it.

I think the key words here are “based on the worldwide bestseller”. If you accept that and just roll with it, I'm guessing you'll dig it. I don't know how many people went into the first two movies expecting faithful adaptations, but the ripple effect from changes made in the first two movies is making its presence know.

Will I see it? Yes. Will fans of the love story see it? Hell yes. Will you?

Check out the trailer and see what you think.
