Soon you will get to swoon at the sight of Benedict Cumberbatch”s dashing Sherlock on the big screen and the sound of his voice like honey flowing into your ears from movie theater speakers.
Yep, BBC”s “Sherlock” is coming to to the big screen for a special event. “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride” will screen in over 500 U.S. theaters on Tuesday, January 5 and Wednesday, January 6, following the special”s TV debut on Friday, January 1, when it will air both in the U.K. and in the U.S., on PBS. This will be the first time an episode of the series has premiered on both sides of the pond on the same day.
Tickets for the theater screenings will be available on Friday, November 6 on Fathom Event's website.
BBC previously partnered with Fathom Events to bring “Day of the Doctor,” the “Doctor Who” 50th anniversary special episode, to theaters.
“The Abominable Bride” special is a one-off episode set in Victorian London in 1895. Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will reprise their modern takes on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle”s characters – but in the era in which they were first brought to life in the pages of Doyle”s books, deerstalker hat and all. Series creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss wrote the special episode.
Fans who see the 90-minute special will get the bonus of 20 minutes of exclusive footage that will include a guided set tour of 221B Baker Street hosted by Moffat, screening ahead of the special, plus and a “making of” short film featuring Cumberbatch and Freeman.
Production for season 4 of “Sherlock” is expected to begin this spring.
