Big Brother returns much, much earlier than usual with a new, awkward cast

Monday, September 26, 2016 is the day of the first Presidential Debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. But it will go down in history as the day that Big Brother announced it's newest cast.

CBS All Access has one of it's first Internet only shows in Big Brother Over the Top. It's the same basic idea as the Big Brother summer show.  A group of houseguests compete for a prize. The last one standing wins.

Big Brother is always a summer hit, and part of the fun is that fans can sign up to watch the live feeds on the Internet. They get to witness houseguests brushing their teeth and perhaps being racist. This year, feeds were only available through CBS All Access, so it make sense for CBS to hold onto those subscribers with more Big Brother action. This fall season will only be ten weeks and will feature even more viewer interaction. In fact, there won't be a jury. Instead, we the people will decide the winner. Like the US election. And just as important.

In this video, each contestant tells us what makes them “over the top.” Robyn Kass, the usual casting director for Big Brother, didn't cast this one. And you can almost feel it. These people seem… off. They seem like a B team. And regular Big Brother is kind of a B team for CBS's Survivor, so this is like a Z team. These are like the people who sign up for your screenwriting tutorial class on an off night. You really have no idea what you're getting but it's probably going to be creepy.

But… forget that. What makes you over the top?

P. S. The prize money is only $250,000. Stop it, CBS. These people are in a psychedelic, Truman Show slash Stanford prison experiment, which they will spend years recovering from. Show them the money!
