Bill Murray and Lucas Black are set to join the period dark dramedy “Get Low.”
Set to be produced by the Zanuck Co., “Get Low” will star Oscar winners Robert Duvall and Sissy Spacek and is based on the true story of Felix “Bush” Breazeale.
The tale is one of a Tennessee man who decided, in 1938, to hold his own funeral while he was still alive. So he alerted the media, took donations from local companies and threw himself the most lavish funeral the community had ever known.
According to Variety, though, “Get Low” is a “dramatic thriller,” making us wonder what screenerwiters Aaron Schneider, C. Gaby Mitchell and Chris Provenzano have added to the story. Schneider will direct.
The trade paper says that Murray and Black will play partners at a funeral home.
Production on “Get Low” will begin this week in Georgia.
“Meatballs,” “Rushmore” and “Lost in Translation” star Murray was most recently seen in “City of Ember.”
Black’s credits include “Slingblade,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” and the upcoming “Legion.”
