Bill Paxton talks ‘Edge of Tomorrow’, hints at ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ finale

In addition to his juicy villain role on “Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Bill Paxton will soon be going to “The Edge of Tomorrow” with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.

HitFix's Gregory Ellwood caught up with the fan favorite character actor (“Aliens,” “Twister”), who excitedly discussed “Tomorrow,” nearly giving away all the film's twists before stopping himself.

Like “Groundhog Day” crossed with “Starship Troopers,” “Tomorrow” finds Cruise's character living through the day over and over and over as he faces grisly combat with alien invaders.

When discussing the film, Paxton draws several comparisons the film to WWII history (it even opens on June 6, the anniversary of D-Day), references “Halo,” and even throws in an “Aliens” quote (and a few curse words). He also notes the film's “politically incorrect” gallows humor.

As for his recent reveal as an agent of HYDRA on “S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Paxton jokes, “I don't even know what happened — and I'm in it!”

Playing the baddie is more of a thrill anyway though. “I much prefer playing the character after he's been unmasked,” he adds.

“Edge of Tomorrow” opens June 6.
