Bravo is looking to expand its “Real Housewives” franchise, turning its attentions to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
“We’re tapping personalities who are among Washington D.C.’s influential players, cultural connoisseurs, fashion sophisticates and philanthropic leaders — the people who rub elbows with the most prominent people in the country and easily move in the city’s diverse political and social circles,” says Frances Berwick, Bravo’s executive vice president and general manager.
The casting process on “The Real Housewives of D.C.” is underway. The cable network’s press release says, “Bravo is scouting the D.C. area to identify the city’s alluring and discriminating residents, those women who have their pulse on the most important cultural events, political galas, gallery openings and fundraisers in Washington society.”
Half Yard Productions is developing the new “Real Housewives,” with D.C. joining Atlanta, New Jersey, New York City and the Orange County mothership in Bravo’s stable.
