Set in a near-future, policing has become the job of a fleet of robots. How society reached the point where relinquishing power to machines seemed like the best option is left unsaid, but the results are (as always) unsettling. Many films explore the themes of what makes a person a person and fear of those that are different from us. “Chappie” isn”t reinventing the wheel, but does it need to?
