Lucasfilm unveils a 28 thousand dollar ‘Star Wars’ watch

Wondering what to do with that $28K you”ve got lying around?

Well, a twenty-eight thousand “Star Wars” watch is now available for all of your time-keeping needs.

This luxury item comes out of a collaboration between Lucasfilm, the aerospace industry, and Devon Works; a company I had never heard of, but according to the infovideo announcing this product is a “design and advance engineering lab dedicated to creating innovative and revolutionary products that bend reality…”

In any event, the watch is hand-crafted and individually numbered. Inspired by Darth Vader and the TIE fighter, it boasts a scratch-resistant polycarbonate lens with “bullet-proof durability,” and comes with a TIE fighter cufflinks…no extra charge. Only five hundred will be made, which essentially means that Bill Gates just bought five hundred watches. Maybe.

Take a look at the video introducing the watch and let us know what you think. Do you call shenanigans on an ill-advised cash-grab on the part of Lucasfilm? Or is this a perfectly fine indulgence for those who can afford it?

for those tracking the progress of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” we discuss why Finn has THAT lightsaber in the video at the top of this page and who Kylo Ren really is in the video below.
