The Rock welcomes ‘Jumanji’ juniors to the cast

While Jumanji is already in production with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas, and Jack Black, they've just added four new players to the game. And they're young.

The cast of the new Jumanji (set for a July 28, 2017 release) already seem to be having a lot of fun on set but after the first group shot was revealed many (including our own Donna Dickens) presumed there was more to this team than meets the eye. Considering the 1995 film featured two children along with the adults playing Jumanji, I was wondering if/when we'd see younger actors cast. And here we go.

The Rock welcomed Madison Iseman, Ser”Darius Blain, Alex Wolff, and Morgan Turner to the sequel. We still don't have all the details but Deadline says “Blain will play Anthony 'Fridge' Johnson” and The Hollywood Reporter says “Wolff will play a boy named Spencer whose avatar in the game is being played by Johnson and named Dr. Smolder Bravestone.”

THR adds, “In what is being billed as a 'continuation,' with a script by the writing teams of Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers along with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, it appears that the players are taken from the real world and thrust into a jungle adventure instead.”

New Zealand actor Rhys Darby (seen recently as the Were-Lizard in the X-Files revamp) was also added to the cast recently as Nigel.
