Fans began crying out for a return of The Punisher following the success of Netflix”s violent Marvel series “Daredevil.” The streaming service felt like the perfect home for Frank Castle, a character who is far more tonally cohesive with what Marvel is producing for that platform than what they are delivering in their larger cinematic universe.
Rather than jump into committing him to his own series, however, Marvel has opted to introduce Castle in “Daredevil” Season 2, which is being described as “Punisher vs. Daredevil.” From the looks of an image that actor Jon Bernthal tweeted, it doesn”t appear that The Punisher”s going to be taking it easy on Matt Murdock.
Bernthal, who many will know from his role as Shane on AMC”s “The Walking Dead,” is set to play The Punisher, a character he is wildly enthusiastic about.
